New Year, Old Me

I've noticed a flurry of social media posts this year, all rejecting the "new year, new me" narrative. This refreshing approach to January is music to my ears. January, for many, is a month of recovery from the over indulgence, over spending, and over stimulation of December. With this in mind it is clear why many of, even the strongest willed people, fail to maintain resolutions. We're cold, exhausted and in need of some time to hibernate. It is not the best time to make lifestyle changes - which often involve the spending of more money, and the application of more pressure.  This and the fact that much of my work is based on boosting client's self-esteem, helping them realise that, despite past messaging, they really are good enough just as they are, makes me even more grateful for this new approach. I help clients understand that they are perfectly imperfect. I know this to be true because we all are. Once clients reach this point they are empowered to then choose how they want to show up in the world, what the best version of them really looks like. If this involves making changes then I help them move towards these goals. But for now, in the depths of winter, I'd encourage all of my clients, and anyone reading this, to be still, to be accepting of this moment just as it. To know that, new year, old, me is a perfectly imperfect way to approach this new year. Wishing you all a very happy 2024.
